Overview:

  • Volvo will be conducting tests of its new “Ride Pilot” self-driving capability in California
  • John Deere breaks new ground with self-driving tractors controlled from a phone
  • Cadillac expanded its vision for personal autonomous mobility with the InnerSpace concept – a dramatic, two-passenger autonomous luxury EV
  • CES is hosting a high-speed autonomous car race with University students designing the algorithms that control them

Overview:

  • Hyundai Motors displayed its vision for robotics in the real world and metaverse under the theme “mobility of things”
  • LG unveiled a range of bots including the CLOi Serve Bot, capable of serving drinks and snacks
  • Yukai Engineering unveiled a robotic cat named Amagami Ham Ham which can nibble your fingers
  • DEEP Robotics’ Jueying Lite2 Robot Dog set tongues wagging with a range of back flips

Overview:

  • Sony announced ‘Vision-S’, an initiative aimed at “contributing to the evolution of mobility”
  • Mercedes-Benz showcased the sleek Vision EQXX concept, with a range of 621 miles
  • BMW launched electric iX M60 super-SUV with 611bhp to rival Audi e-Tron S
  • Chrysler unveiled Airflow Concept and confirms it is going fully electric by 2028
  • General Motors debuted new Chevy Silverado EV pick-up and announced EV versions of the Chevy Equinox and Blazer SUVs

Connected Cars

Overview:

  • LG unveiled its Omnipod ‘a future mobility concept cabin that can reconstruct the customer’s space for purpose.’
  • BMW showcased its innovative colour-changing iX Flow which uses the same E-ink technology as Amazon’s Kindle
  • Ford Explorer and Lincoln Navigator to have Amazon Fire TV
  • Blackberry used CES 2022 to talk about Blackberry IVY, its intelligent vehicle data platform co-developed with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Cabin Technology

Overview:

  • Stellantis announced a collaboration with Amazon to deploy the global merchant’s web services technology in its vehicles
  • BMW showed a huge 31-inch in-car screen to keep backseat passengers entertained as well as launching its ‘digital art mode’ which will see art featured on the curved display that sits atop the iX’s dashboard
  • Google made several announcements related to cars compatible with Android Auto as well as cars with Google built-in including a partnership with Volvo
  • Gentex is developing a hypersensitive camera for vehicle interiors that is so responsive it can sense your heartbeat, detect a sleeping baby’s breath and even make out objects that aren’t in its line of sight
