The Nissan NV200 London Taxi

Performance Communications Author Image Performance Communications | August 21, 2012

Nissan unveiled its 21st Century vision for the future of London’s iconic ‘black cab’ at the start of August 2012.

The Nissan NV200 London Taxi was unveiled in Central London by executive vice president, Andy Palmer, in front of a packed hall of British and International media.

The NV200, which has already been unveiled as concept taxis for Tokyo and New York City, has been modified to fit within Transport for London’s tight restrictions for licensed cabs, including a 25-foot turning circle. Nissan is working with TfL, the Greater London Authority, disability groups and the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association of London to ensure that, when it hits the streets of the Capital in Spring 2014, it will be a truly viable alternative to the traditional Hackney Carriage.

Importantly, Nissan will also be developing a 100% electric vision of its NV200 London Taxi during 2013, with a view to introducing it to London cabbies at the same time as the diesel variant, already under construction.

This would be six years in advance of London Mayor Boris Johnson’s target of 2020 for the introduction of a zero emissions taxi.

MOTD Vs Changing viewing habits

I used to be a Match of the Day devotee, but the appeal is unfortunately waning. Yes, Sunderland AFC have been absent for 7 (seven) seasons, but I can’t remember the last time I tuned in for a full episode and with viewing figures down year-on-year (just 2.7 million earlier in January), this national institution […]

Introducing the antidote for AI generated copy: the smart typewriter

There’s a new piece of kit in the Performance Communications office: a Freewrite smart typewriter. It’s a pretty simple piece of technology: a chunky keyboard bundled with an LCD screen and storage. It doesn’t have a spellchecker, a web browser, or a scrollbar. If you’re old enough to remember, it’s reminiscent of early pre-PC word […]
