Extreme Sailing Series - Main Image

The Performance Communications Middle East team helped make a splash with the UAE media this month thanks to its efforts in supporting the official media launch and pre-season training for the world’s most intense international inshore racing championship, the Extreme Sailing Series (ESS).

Extreme Sailing Series - Other Image 1In its tenth year, the ESS brings together the best skippers on the planet to compete on state-of-the-art catamarans starting with the first Act in Oman before moving onto China, U.K, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Portugal and finishing in Australia.

No strangers to the ocean wave, having worked on both the 2014 and 2015 ESS in Muscat with GAC Pindar, the Performance team’s remit included arranging and staffing interviews with the likes of Olympic gold medalist Sarah Ayton, US high performance sailor Morgan Larson and Omani pro Nasser Al Mashari as well as helping support with on-site event logistics and translating press materials.

Extreme Sailing Series - Other Image 2Twenty-five journalists attended the media launch, spanning print, broadcast and online, with six key TV channels in attendance including Sky News Arabia and CNN. Getting their sea legs at the ready, a handful of tier one titles took time to sail out to sea on a 20ft yacht in order to gain a first-hand experience of the ESS.
