Creating Effective Content

Performance Communications Author Image Performance Communications | February 9, 2013

Content…If your agency tells you need they need to create content for your website or Facebook, whats the first thing that comes to mind? Probably how much is this going to cost me…?

But content doesn’t have to cost the earth. As ever in life, a simple idea executed well can have a big impact.

Take a look at the following from Lotus to announce the new F1 car design (an ordinarily fairly niche area of interest)

A simple but amusing Photoshop job that won’t have taken a designer very long to do has so far garnered:

  • 570 Retweets on Twitter
  • 309 Likes on Facebook
  • Thousands of online articles e.g. Pocket Lint, Metro and Daily Mail

All of which have a BIG impact on SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

This one simple piece of content, that likely has a minimal cost, has taken Lotus from the niche F1 fans pages to the mainstream and raised brand awareness.

Good work Lotus.

If you’d like advice on creating content that doesn’t cost the earth, but that delivers results, drop me an email on andym@performancecomms.com or give us a call on 020 8541 3434
