What we’re looking for.

Performance Communications has a couple of unique opportunities at Account Executive / Senior Account Executive level in its Kingston upon Thames office to join the award-winning team of automotive, technology and sports comms specialists.

We are looking for someone who is a strong Account Executive or ready to take the next step in their career to Senior Account Executive; someone who is personable, highly organised, reliable and shows a flair for developing automotive content/copywriting within a busy communications team.

The right candidate will have a passion for project management and will be a key contact for clients, enthusiastically taking on the broad day-to-day requirements of the team. Media relations experience is essential, alongside being well-informed about automotive mobility.

The AE/SAE role is the central point of support across our automotive team at Performance. The individual is expected to help maintain systems and processes to support the team in working efficiently, juggling the unique requirements of our varied clients.

Performance Communications has a reputation for nurturing and developing talent and prides itself on being at the forefront of marketing and communications. We have a reputation for creativity, dynamism and the successful delivery of first-class results for our portfolio of clients and we are looking for a proactive individual capable of jumping right in.

What you will be doing.

  • Act as day-to-day support for S/AM and AD/Director on delivery of the 12-month PR plans for the clients
  • Develop an understanding of key messages and objectives set against key projects
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and prioritise own work
  • Nurture and develop client and key media/influencer relationships
  • Action all account housekeeping-related matters including weekly client reports, meeting agendas, minutes and contact reports
  • Oversee internal team coordination and circulation of briefing documents and related documentation for the delivery of day-to-day account work
  • Conduct daily monitoring for stories of interest relating to the clients and circulate relevant stories internally or to the client team
  • Write briefs for all third-party suppliers including photography, filming, events and branding; support on shoots and assist in the delivery of high-quality assets
  • Help coordinate and manage suppliers to deliver projects on brief (on objective, message and within budget)
  • Develop an understanding of PR planning through writing up ideas and plans with support from senior team members
  • Assist in researching and creating market insights, including consumer, media and PR trends and competitor analysis reports
  • Coordinate evaluation reports and liaise with suppliers (e.g. Coverage Book, PRIME and Klear) to deliver accurate and informative reports across all projects
  • Support in ensuring full budget management across all work, including the creation of budget estimates, tracking of POs, collation of invoices, receipts and booking confirmation, expenses and reconciliation
  • Media event management: supporting the organisation and logistics of media events, stunts and activities
  • Research and draft copy, news releases, blog articles, features and media materials relating to all accounts; and assist in the development of creative editorial content

Reporting to the Account Managers with input from Account Director / Director, you will be pivotal in the day-to-day smooth running of several high-profile consumer automotive accounts and core projects.

You don’t need to be a car nut, but you do need to have passion and general industry understanding for all things automotive – our role is to make these brands resonate with consumers (everyday people) so we must talk their language.

What skills you will need.

  • A proactive self-starter, who can lead and drive workflow, delivering results across key accounts
  • Excellent ability to build client relationships quickly
  • Media relations experience, ideally lifestyle and automotive
  • Creative skills to come up with ideas that generate earned media coverage in a variety of media sectors, for big and small campaigns, bringing creative input to even the smallest tasks
  • Project management skills
  • Strong news release writing abilities - able to adapt to different client needs, TOV’s and outputs, with excellent attention to detail
  • Be passionate about good, simple and effective PR
  • A strong communicator and able to upwards manage as well as prioritise their own work
  • Quick learner, adaptable and pragmatic thinker, whilst being tenacious, results-driven and resilient
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about becoming an integral part of an award-winning team
  • Highly motivated and committed
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable, whilst being an approachable team player
  • Takes initiative and able to work autonomously and conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times
  • Begin to develop a strong eye for an editorial angle
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work on initiative
  • A ‘right first-time’ attitude
  • Time management – the ability to logically plan, develop and execute
  • Ability to build strong relationships - internally / clients / media / influencers etc.
  • Influencer relations experience
