Performance Charges Ahead With Electric Truck Pioneer, Tevva Motors

Electric commercial vehicle technology supplier, Tevva Motors Ltd, has selected Performance Communications to handle its PR and communications function.

Tevva, based in Chelmsford, Essex, has emerged as a world leader in the development and provision of technologies that can electrify almost any existing, medium-duty (7.5t-14t) truck.

While the ambition, economics and timeline of OEM electrification of its vehicles remains unclear, Tevva has developed a bespoke and entirely scalable package of technologies available to both CV manufacturers or as a complete package for individual fleet customers.

The technologies developed by Tevva include the construction of battery cells and packs, a bespoke battery management system, telematics and diagnostics software and an optional range extender, meaning that the tech can be tailored to any duty cycle to maximise battery capacity, leaving no wasted energy whilst eliminating range anxiety for back-to-base operations.

Importantly, the Tevva ReX range extender uses a clever Predictive Range Extension Management System (PREMS) to autonomously engage when the vehicle enters an urban environment, Clean Air Zone or similar.

Performance has a rich pedigree in EV communications, having been responsible for the launch of the original Nissan LEAF – the world’s first mass production electric car – as well as subsequent activations for Nissan and other brands, including DS, Citroen and Jaguar Land Rover.

The agency was brought in by Sales & Marketing Director, David Thackray and Commercial Director, Richard Lidstone-Scott to undertake everything from strategic comms support to baseline PR, with a particular focus on investor engagement as the Tevva brand continued its latest funding round.

Saying au revoir to range anxiety

As a way of communicating the range of an electric vehicle (EV), the idea of completing a long-distance drive is tried and tested.
